1950s was a better time to live than today

It could be his brain is so pickled in alcohol, he doesn't realize that alcohol is a drug too...........

Fewer people also in the 50s.....

In the 50s - it was "you're welcome."

Today: "no problem."

The 1950s was a great time to be a white middle class child, that is for sure.

That because in the 1950s unions were strong, daddy made a decent living, mommy probably stayed home and the MASTERS still needed a strong vibrant America and with a strong middle class.

For many other Americans, (Blacks for example) it wasn't such a great time.

There, I've fixed the part you didn't notice......

It was certainly better for blacks than it is today. Strong families, low crime rate, safe neighborhoods. Very powerful Churches that took care of the needy. And, they knew exactly who was needy. An almost non existent abortion rate. Black men just didn't run out on their families but took care of their children.

While it certainly was very bad in some circumstances, they couldn't eat at the same lunch counters, had to sit in the back of the bus, they were certainly humiliated on a daily basis, but now we have black people in black neighborhoods who think killing others is the solution to all their problems. Absolutely things are much worse for black people today than in the 50s.

Having lived in the 50s, it really was a better time. Someone could go to work and leave their door unlocked knowing that if anyone went in their homes it was to get a quick cup of sugar, kids played outside safely. Come home when the street lights come on is what kids were told. People behaved themselves because the eyes were everyplace. Today we need surveillance cameras. In the 50s, no one got away with anything.

Calmly swims right on by the bait as it floats there in the water . . . .

Don't be so hard on old Gins here, folks. There were lots of things that were indeed better in the 1950's than now. Trouble is, I think there are probably more things now that are better than back then.

We are paying the price for the decary of moral standards that started in the 1960's and has gotten worse with each passing decade. Much of the bad attitude you see on the part of people these days is directly traceable to that. Today, no one gives a damn about anyone except themselves. People live together, children are born and raised, all without benefit of marriage. Sounds fun, right? But there is a price to pay. Didn't have that in the 1950's.

I could go on, but won't. My two cents. Don't like it, move on.
