18 High Schoolers Get Baptized on Field, Atheists Go Ape

What do people wanting to be baptized in the Baptist sect of Christianity have anything to do with a football team at a public high school? Where I grew up, the local Baptist church had a baptism pool. Why do people want to be baptized in a public football field? Don't they have churches to go to? Or is this just another public grandstanding, theatrical event?

Some churches don't have buildings, or buildings equipped with baptismal pools. Of course doing it public does help reach the people, and does send a message to the community

What? With all of these churches, they can't find a baptism pool? Oh, come on. And what "message" to what "community"? Do all religious communities perform their religious rites in public? This public grandstanding theatrics is sooooo boring.

Oh give it up and stop the fucking whining. This didnt effect you personally so sit down, stfu and relax

Your foul language is noted. You never even approached answering my comment. There is such love and respect for Jesus in your foul language and demand for a stage for your theatrics. NOT! You use the word "fuck" a lot. Do you feel good about it? Very bibble?

Listen up, clownshoes and learn this and then live it. You do not dictate how others conduct themselves, you have zero authority. There lies your problem...I don't care. Sit down, stfu and get past you will ever matter to me.

How's that? If it bothers you guess what? I do not care

Many Christian communities perform their rites in public. Probably a majority. I know that a lot of muslim and satanists have secret ceremonies, but not so much for Christianity.

Glad to see this event totally destroyed your life.
What "totally destroyed" my life? All I'm against is these grandstanding, showboating theatricals. Where I grew up, we had churches, not public theatrics on an athletic field. Just what is the point of these actors?

John the Baptist baptized Jesus and everyone else publically as he called a nation to repentance. Those receiving the baptism do so as a public confession of faith and a vow before God.

It is not your concern or business. You would defend any other similar public display as Free Speech, but you attack this. As others have told you, it really is none of your business.

There goes your foul mouth again, oh follower of Jesus. I don't care if I ever get past being of any matter to you. You are a fraud.

Why do you have such a problem with these baptisms, when you don't have a problem with radicals wearing pussy hats in public, or gay activists engaged in the depravity of public pride parades?

Baptism is part of our shared culture, part of Western Civilization. I think that's the real problem you have with it. Jesse Jackson led the radicals at Stanford demanding the end of western civilization " hey ho, hey ho, western civ has got to go" they chanted.

"The Kingdom of God is inside/within you (and all about you), not in buildings/mansions of wood and stone. (When I am gone) Split a piece of wood and I am there, lift the/a stone and you will find me."

Irrelevant to my post. Please by advised that many other people do not share your take on your chosen religion. Why can't people go to their own churches, synagogues, mosques, temples, sacred circles to conduct the rituals of their faiths? There are only a few religious groups among these faiths who wish to conduct their rituals in a theatrical manner in public display. Do they think that this amounts to anything that could be considered holy or sacred? This is simply childish showboating.
Lol
In your opinion

It is not your concern or business. You would defend any other similar public display as Free Speech, but you attack this. As others have told you, it really is none of your business.

The only reason that this is my business is in someone trying to incorporate a sectarian ritual into a neutral public space or program. That's it. A public school fields a football team. That's it. What the players do in their time off the field is their own business.

I'm not a member of the Baptist denomination, yet I'm not offended at all. These young people are just exercising their 1st Amendment rights.

I bet Hysteria thinks the 1st Amendment is only "Free Speech."

Christians have no right in public spaces, but black mobs and homosexuals and everyone else do?

YOUR attack may not have included foul language but it WAS an attack. As for public displays the BIBLE instructs believers to spread the word, how does one do that with OUT being public?

Actually, libs don't realize it but free practice of religion is listed before freedom of speech.

Although libs aren't in favor of freedom of speech, except for pornography. Political speech is highly regulated under the McCain Feingold Abomination.

It covers EVERYTHING she wants to deny Christians -- expressing an opinion, practicing their religion IN PUBLIC, and the right to ASSEMBLE peaceably

My question is why can't we maintain religiously neutral public spaces and religiously neutral public programs and institutions. When I was growing up, we did, while allowing each religious group to use public space so long as they cleaned up after themselves. Yes, we were allowed to have such rituals as Easter Sunrise services at the village park bandshell, but we cleaned up after ourselves and they were not held as a part of events that drew the general population and were meant for another reason, like cheering for our children's local school's sports teams.

What's next. Do I have to witness a Wiccan couple's handfasting ceremony just to see my local high school's playoff game against the next town over? On my dollar as a taxpayer?

Yes, private ceremonies may be performed on public property. The problem is trying to integrate them with public events.

Hysteria would be crying tears of diversified joy if this would have been a bunch of Muslims on prayer rugs in Alabama

There are no "neutral" spaces in the US, I hope you realize. Gov't entities cannot "take sides" but free citizens absolutely can and can use public spaces to do it.

I"m guessing that they want them to stay foul smelly like them. They walks around Poop cities just to breathe in the air. If they didn't like it. They should of just walked out during the ceremony.
