Early in the morning on August 8, 2008 Georgian army attacked the peacefully sleeping cities of South Ossetia and Russian peacekeepers who had been stationed in that region according to a Georgian-Russian Agreement.
Russia protected their citizens and the peoples of South Ossetia and Abkhazia from this aggression which was, in fact, an attempt of genocide of these peoples who did not share Western views and values.
The “ideal democratic Georgia”, which was presented by Western media as an excellent example of rights and freedoms, could not survive long without constant US financial support.
But this Georgia was the place where Mikheil Saakashvili – who later became a Ukrainian politician too – began his political career; please see the pictures at the top of this post.
Georgia is used as a small dog who barks on an elephant. And the example of this country can show young politicians how a friendship with the US and Europeans ends.
