14 states already?

Someone --- show me where in the constitution is says that the federal government has the authority to mandate that someone purchase something from a private entity.


First of all, it does not require you to purchase it through a private insurer. Federal, state, and local health care plans are acceptable.

Secondly, they are not mandating you purchase anything from anyone - they are imposing a 2.5% tax on those without health insurance. The authority to impose an income tax is very broad and provided for in the 16th Amendment.


Makes good sense to me. People w/o insurance cost this nation tons of money every year when they show up in emergency rooms needing life saving care. Ultimately the bill for their stay will be paid by SOMEONE - but since it likely isn't them, that means its us.
