124 Year Old Grave Warning About Democrats Discovered

What about that 124-week-old question about the bogus quotes in your signline, McRacist?

How prescient of him!

So the Democrooks have been ruining this nation since at least the days of Jackson, and probably before then, too.

This needs to be in our history textbooks. Not that Common Core crap.

Ironical allusion to "history textbooks", the cracking open of one of which would have offered the information that the Democratic Party didn't exist before Jackson...

But hey, who needs facts when you gots rhetoric. Ain't that right, Steve McBogussigline?

The KKK was founded by Confederate cavalryman Nathan Bedford Forrest,

who is always on every good old Southern white boy's short list of heroes. And those white boys aren't voting Democrat nowadays.

Actually it was founded by a half-dozen Confederate veteran soldiers around a campfire (1865) and later Forrest was sought out to head the organization. Forrest (who was heavily implicated in a racial massacre during the war) later disbanded the organization when it became too vigilante-violent even for him. This original KKK was one of several similar vigilante groups that sprang up to in effect continue the Civil War and resist its aftereffects (e.g. see also the "Knights of the White Camellia").

By about 1880 the (first) Klan had been effectively eradicated, resurfacing in a second incarnation in 1915 when it was refounded (and chartered) by a Georgia man named William Simmons as a sort of vigilante blast-from-the-past. This was the iteration that brought in the cross burnings -- also the hate expansion to include Catholics, Jews, communists and loose women. In other words while no political affiliation is known for either Simmons or the six Confederate vets who originally founded it, KKK were always archconservatives who saw themselves as a moral police force.
