Stupid kid should go to congress and get the law changed. The Attorney General cannot write laws. It appears the girl wants Sessions to say he won't enforce the present law like obama infamously vowed to ignore immigration laws. That is not how it's supposed to be handled.

Epileptic girl sues Sessions to legalize medical marijuana nationwide

nov 11 2017 A 12-year-old girl suffering from epilepsy is suing Attorney General Jeff Sessions in order to legalize marijuana for medicinal purposes on a federal level. A motion by the US government to dismiss her case has been denied.

Alexis Bortell, 12, was joined by four other plaintiffs in her lawsuit, filed in US District Court in the Southern District of New York on July 24, according to court documents. Other defendants named in the case are the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Acting Director of the DEA Chuck Rosenberg and the US government.

At issue in the case, is a federal prohibition on marijuana that prevents Bortell from returning home to Texas to continue with her treatment.

Despite the fact that 29 states have legalized the practice of administering medical marijuana to patients, cannabis remains a Schedule I narcotic under federal US law.

There is no such thing as medical marijuana. It's recreational and that's OK with me, but i wish the pot advocates would stop lying about it.

Yes it has been done where the medicinal part in hemp is used for positive remedial purpose while avoiding the part that gets people high.

Do you mean that this doesn't require making "marijuana legal" because the medicinal element can be removed and provided separately?

As for natural medicine and therapy, spiritual healing is even more natural with no negative side effects and broader applications to help more types of conditions than medical marijuana can treat. So if the medical motivations were sincere , there should be equal push to research and development even better, more promising solutions instead of pushing marijuana for political and personal agenda

it is too medicine and the Gov. has had parent on it because they knew it is used for medicinial purpose they only dumbed the public down on it because they made billions off the lies fed to the sheep " Just say no".

The war on drugs is unconstitutional and a violation of human rights.

It needs to end!

Interesting point. I feel the same way about the war on poverty, and the war on medically uninsured. Let’s agree to let people legally buy the drugs they want and also buy the food and medical care they want.

Yes, for treatment, you ever hear of that kind of medical operation before...

It's BS. The kid says pot controls her epilepsy!! HAHAHA. I don't know what the truth is but to me it's far more likely the pot industry paid her to say that.
Yes ShootSpeeders
I met a mother who had to move to Colorado to get treatment to help her kid with seizures. She was at a meeting of Republicans Against marijuana prohibition. There are cases where relief from some conditions is helped by using marijuana or its extracts. You are still right that there is no need to allow ppl to get high on this stuff. You can legalize Valium for medical purposes and still keep it illegal to abuse drugs.

I think it should be illegal to give access to people with dangerous addictions or abuse issues. People should have free access and fully researched information on natural alternatives that are non-addictive and don't pose health risks, such as natural spiritual healing that is free.

Instead of just lobbying for research on marijuana why not study and develop other more natural treatments and prove which ones are most cost effective with the least risk of side effects or added complications?

Cannabis isn't a "drug", stoopid. It's a freaking plant.

Sorry Pogo but you and I both know what was meant here.

The girl isn't interested in using cannibis as a plant.

Yes, this means using the medicinal element inside cannibis as a drug .

No, it doesn't not have to mean using recreational drugs to get high.

And YES there are plenty of other ppl piggybacking or using the medicinal argument to get legalized access to the recreational drug usage.

We know this is part of the agenda.
And unfortunately it hurts the argument for those really seeking medicinal access with the recreational use.

Actually... if a state passes a law that contradicts federal law, the President can ask the AG NOT to use the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution to override the state.

It works for her what makes you think it's BS?
If it cured her epilepsy but didn't make her high she wouldn't want anything to do with it. She'd use a different preexisting prescription drug.
Total ruse.
