Greenland lost 11 billion tons of ice in one day. How does that melt compare to the past?

Scientists announced Thursday that July equaled, if not surpassed, the hottest month in recorded history. But that was not the only cause for concern.

Greenland's ice sheet melted at its most rapid rate so far this summer summer on Thursday, losing 11 billion tons of surface ice to the ocean, according to data from the Polar Portal, a website run by Danish polar research institutions, and the National Snow and Ice Data Center.

One question, why here in Floor E Da, the temperature is well below normal? Just sayin...Should it be hotter everywhere since CO2 is everywhere, and if the temps go up in the southern hemi, then it should go up here also? Right?

Running out of ice is a huge problem!

Good, now if we can just have a cme.

It's called balance. Florida only represents one small area on the planet.
Okay lets try this theory as Global Warming is just a theory also.

You are in your house, and it has 3 floors, a basement, a main floor and a sleeping area on the 3rd. So you have a central air conditioner, like we have the sun for the Earth. When you set the temperature of the thermostat to go up 5 degrees, does all the house go up in temperature, but maybe not all 5 degrees, or does the upstairs get real hot, the middle gets moderate, and the basement turns into a freezer?

So does Greenland
Are you suggesting that ice melting in the Arctic has no effect on the entire ocean ?

Greenland is called that for a reason. There are Nordic farms under the ice sheet. Take those icebergs and turn them into fresh water.

This would be a great time to uncover more fossils from the last climate cycle we had

Printed from "the Conversation"? What's that? It's interesting that the title of the story says 15 billion etc. but nothing in the link explains it. It occurred to me that they might have left out the words "what if".

All that cold runoff water from the melted ice is making Foor E Da colder! IDK, Just guessing. Don't judge me.
