One would assume that with the millions out of work, those unemployed would be voting for whoever is running against the incumbent, and therefore in this case Romney has a large block of voters in his pocket.

However, if you are unemployed and becoming accustomed to drawing unemployment, and welfare who is the candidate most likely to help you remain on the dole ?

Obviously Obama.
What it comes down to, is while it would be nice to think all of these people WANT off the government nipple, that is obviously not the case.
In affect, millions of these people in truth are voters who are actually in the pocket of Obama.

I guess we can see why James Madison, among other founding fathers, believed in allowing only property owners to vote. Since property is the fruit of our individual liberty, and thus, a self-evident truth cannot be violated in order to give an artificial privilege to another, taken with the fact that the ends of government is to defend our individual liberty, then it certainly is a conflict of interest for those who live off of the produce of others. Obama does not believe in individual liberty as a self-evident truth. He believes that individual liberty is only a privilege that can be taken by government in order to provide "collective rights." Of course, if rights can be granted by government then they aren’t rights at all. The more people on welfare will only create more supporters for Obama. It would be lying to ones self to say otherwise. This is by design.

I distinctly remember Sam Kinison advising the Somalians to move out of the desert and to where the food was.

Nothing prevents the welfare recipients from also moving to where the jobs are, if they REALLY wanted to.

Interesting............we have over 100 million people on welfare (according to the OP), yet there are only 300 million people TOTAL POPULATION in the U.S.

That would mean that 1 out of every 3 people are currently on welfare (according to the OP).

Where did you get that info dude, did you pull it outta your ass?

No siree bob.

The Constitution of the welfare/warfare Constitution clealry states that the voting booth must actually an ATM machine connected to the US Treasury.

When you hear numbers like 100 million on welfare, it should be an issue that unites Americans, not divides. The talking point should be "how do we grow the middle class and get these struggling Americans into a more financially secure position". Instead all I ever read is name calling and blaming.

When I hear a number like "100 million on welfare" I start wondering where they pulled that figure out from (probably their ass), because there are only 300 million people TOTAL POPULATION IN THIS COUNTRY.

That would mean that 1 out of every 3 Americans is currently on welfare, which sounds like bullshit to me.

I know...1/3rd Americans on Welfare? Really? Does this go with the 200 million a day spent on the India trip?

Probably used the same source.

Maybe they are counting the children of the recipients as well?

Still wouldn't come up to 1/3 of the population of the U.S.

It depends on who you blame for the collapse. Since obama has turned around the collapsing economy it is hard for someone who is not a hater to buy that he is at fault for the problem. Bush had the previous 8 years and clinton before that, so you pretty mucgh have them and congress to blame for deregulation that allowed the stock market to collapse and land values to be artificially raised by the demand created by shitty toxic loans. About the best a rational person who is educated on the matter will wonder is if the recovery could have been better under Romney's ideas.

This is not to mention that a number of people who might have felt the safety net of unemployment and welfare to be unecessary might feel completely different now that they see what might happen and how them or their friends have had to rely on it. Plus a number of working people at minimum wage find the welfare assistance to be what gets them by every month, and a need for medical care where Obama is your guy. It seems to me the republican hate is based a lot in the area of people who are of a upper middle class wealthier status who can rely on savings or equity to get them by without government assistance. Considering how many of them were destroyed in the crash i have to wonder if anger at the incumbent is really something they have. Don't get me wrong, i am sure there is a ton of anger at the system, but who gets more of that anger? Is it the black president who got caught in someone else's mess, or the rich white guy who has made his fortune off the problems that brought about the collapse?
However, if you are unemployed and becoming accustomed to drawing unemployment, and welfare who is the candidate most likely to help you remain on the dole ?

You can't get accustomed to permanent unemployment as it goes away. It does help people to hold onto their houses and cars through a dry patch, but everyone I know on unemployment roots for extensions so they can find a job to cover the lifestyle they made for themselves. very simply welfare won't come close to cutting it, and minimum wage jobs also will not help you maintain a middle class lifestyle. Being on unemployment is nicer than having to rely on welfare, or your savings, but it is like living on a timebomb. Eventually you either get a job, or the timebomb goes off and you are screwed. The republicans have done a great job of making themselves into the bad guys with their opposition of recovery. This idea that there are people out there riding unemployment like a gravy train that will never end is really stupid. About the only people i know whop do that are kids who worked enough to get unemployment who have moved back in with their families on a safety net. For them unemployment is great because they have no real impending doom as they have a home and food already. Still, eventually they will be scaled back to food stamps alone as welfare does not pay for housing, utilities, or anything else if you are living with family members. I have even known them to turn down food assistance for people who live with their families.

Your idea this is a socialist gravy train with no end is laughable and can only be had by someone who has never had to use it.
Obviously Obama.

to tell the truith materialism makes most people long for employment. It is one thing to have to scale back for survival, but most people do not want to live on the shit they give you for welfare. You couple that with the fact the boomers will be dipping into their retirement soon enough, if they have not already, and they cannot keep giving their kids a free ride, and soon you wioll have lots of genXers needing some sort of employment to satisfy their desire for material things.

your ideas that this free ride is out there by the government relies on a lie, and that lie is that welfare provides you with a lot of money. These people you see on welfare who drive around escalades bought them when they were making toxic loans to pump up demand. Without that credit you cannot live higher than your status, and lots of people were living much higher than they could otherwise. Ity was not the government directly funding these people, it was the banks who were making crap loans and artificially boosting the market in an unsustainable ride on credit. No one buys an escalade on their welfare check. You need a car loan to do such things. Eventually their high end cars will break, or be turned off by their pricy onstar systems and these people will lose their bling.

For all we know they are including any and all veterans programs and skewing the numbers by not factoring for people on more than 1 assistance program.

Jane Devin: Political Propaganda: "100 Million Receiving Welfare"

Here's huffs take.

I tried to find a more detailed breakdown of what they are including to get that number but I can't find it anywhere.

Looks like its a BS chart
As the link points out:
Not that it matters to those who such pre-conceived views, but this graph is a blatant example of political propaganda. Read the fine print:
"Figures include anyone residing in a household where at least one person received a program benefit." In other words, if your disabled brother lives with your family of six, and was a recipient of Medicaid (not to be confused with Medicare), all seven of you are listed as having received a welfare benefit.
But wait, there's more to welfare than just medical aid, right? Right. The report goes on to say, "The federal government administers nearly 80 different overlapping federal means-tested welfare programs..."
not only are they counting everyone in the family if only one person is getting assistance, they are also counting the same people more than once for each "overlapping" program!!! So if a family is getting food stamps and a child of that family gets school lunches from the government, that family is counted twice!!!

I was just guessing. I personally think that the OP is garbage.
