10 Traits Found In Socialists

The problem with your equality arguments here is that people are NOT equal. period.

Every individual by measure is different from every other.

This is the very reason individual liberties and rights must be the first and foremost concern of governments. Every person can have equal recognition under the law and equal protection of rights and liberties and have very different lives and levels of success.

When governments and people start limiting freedoms in favor of fairness we have what we have today, the attempt to equalize results not rights and liberties

We might as well tax a man for having a higher IQ than another because by virtue of his intelligence others are not equal to him.

soon as one of you socialist libtards tells me what this socialist "equality" is.. you afraid to go there???

I have no idea what it means. Why are you afraid to tell me whether or not you support having a public school system?

I can't answer til you answer,, I wanna know what socialist equality means..

Willow...you most certainly CAN answer before him...you just dont want to. To be fair, you're smart enough to realize its an attempt to trap you.

So keep holding out...but don't think you're pulling one over

See, there are lots of things done for the good of the collective already: paved roads, fire stations, public schools, the post office... etc. And these aren't necessarily socialist....but the way current conservatives are painting socialism...that is to say the over-reaching they're doing to scare people and get political power from it...the only recourse you have is to redefine the stuff you've already taken for granted.

The idea of the social contract - give to the government to get back rights - was a principle of the Founding Fathers...not Chairman Mao.

The OP is talking about Socialists and you notice how quickly the usual suspects on the Left rush to defend the home team?

Classic Frankenberry. No, I for one didn't notice that. The OP says that if you support having a public school system it's a sign you're a socialist.

Do you support having a public school system?

You were late in getting here.

I support the dismantling of the US DOE and the complete eradication of all federal standards with respect to education.

Education is a matter for parents, then communities, then the states.

Thanks to Democrat control of education the vast majority of US high School students can't identify when the War of 1812 was fought and cannot identify 3 Founding Fathers even if you spot them George Washington, fuck spot them John Adams and Tom Jefferson and 75% still won't get it

Vouchers for all and within a generation people will laugh at the Dems who call FDR "Great"

Northern soldiers who never mentioned either political party in their letters home.

Not sure I understand your point, were the states that seceded from the Union run by Democrats or not?
So you're here to argue that Democrats are the party of states' right and self-determination and the Republicans are the party of tyranny and suspension of Habeus Corpus? :eusa_eh:

Dems are the party that would rather fight than surrender their slaves

This person obviously doesn't know what socialism really is.

Please enlighten us, Luissa.

Let's see, it is hard to slavery in socialism, since it is based on equality.
Also socialism is closer to true democracy, then our current government is.

You people the mistake of looking at Russia and China, and believing that is what communism and socialism is. When in reality, they do not represent the true form of either.

Socialism is based on forced 'equality' by the ruling elite.... Socialism can only exist in a society of slaves, prisoners, and robots who are under the all powerful state control needed to ensure compliance to the forced 'equality'

Socialism has no basis in 'democracy' as people will inherently vote in self interest

Another clueless explanation of Socialism

The US today has socialist aspects. So does every other nation on earth. Currently, the US balances Socialism with Capitalism to provide a modern society. There are no absolutes. We could not survive with absolute socialism or absolute capitalism, but must seek a middle ground

And the socialist aspects (which we should have LESS of in a free society) are ensured by forced state control.... and the more socialist a society gets, the less freedom is inherent in that society. The more controls are needed by the ruling elite to ensure compliance in the face of the self interests of the individuals in the society

Forced state control happens in every government on the planet. It happened in the Founder's time. You didn't like the new Constitution in 1794? The governmernt still enforced it.

That's the problem...people keep taking these nebulous ideas like government control, equality, freedom and arguing about them in the abstract to the point that they mean nothing.

Until the lot of you define socialism, you'll never be able to compare it to that (idiotic) original post.

1.Socialists believe in the use of force to gain their personal ends. Whether it's light bulbs or alternative energy or public schools or national health care, in the end there's always a gun at your head to get you to conform. If a man holds you up in the street, does it matter if he wants the money for drugs or to bail out someone's mortgage? It's still a gun, and it's still armed robbery.

Ok, how many of you here think the public school system(s) should be outlawed? That it should be illegal for any state to establish a public school system and collect taxes to finance it.
Abolishing public schools is not an aim of Republicans/Conservatives; their aim is to remove the federal hand and its distortion from public education so that the states, which pay for local schools through property taxes are in charge of their schools again. The tax money that goes to the US Dept of education does not pay for any school buildings or the pay of teachers and school administrators. That money does go to empower teachers unions which have a stranglehold on our educational system.

If I remember correctly it was USC here at USMB that posted a thread questioning the legitimacy of public schools and a publicly paid for education.

People who own their own houses and pay property taxes are aware that the largest item paid for by their property taxes is the levy for schools; nothing else comes close.

Laws indeed are enforced by government... the attempt to force outcome and a warped view (socialist view) of 'equality' is indeed crucial to a socialist system... As stated, freedom and the wish to put personal self interests as a priority do not mesh well with a system that grows more socialist in nature

You're still spinning for political gold. Every government enforces their laws to implement their version of reality.

Republicans were the liberals of that time. What happened to make them into fuckwits is something I don't know.

But fuckwits they currently are.

No, Ravidiot. Not true.

While liberals lie about their roots and claim to be somehow related to the founding fathers, that is a lie.

Likewise it's a lie when they say that the Republicans of yesterday have become the Democrats of today. What a joke. You guys are STILL pulling for the same backwards, hayseed, racist, elitist crap you pulled for then.

And lying won't make you friends.

Really?

Here is the electorial map from when kennedy was elected.

1960 Presidential General Election Results

Here is the map from when Nixon was elected, after the civil rights movement.
1968 Presidential General Election Results

And here is Obama's.
2008 Obama Electoral Map

Interesting that in the first two maps blue was for Republican and red was for Democrats, with that changing in the last map becoming red/R blue/D. To me that suggests or reflects the increase in the Liberal control of the media. Red for Ds is too close to the truth, and looks inciteful, which it is.

The original blue/red assignments seem more appropriate because red is more indicative of "radical" (fire being the agent of the most radical) change, and the left is more radical, and blue is more staid, which is more settled and conservative.

The OP is likely either some internet talking point or some email that gets traded around from neocon to neocon. It has no bearing on REAL socialism.

Having lived in a socialist country and studied socialist economic systems...the OP is pure partisan hackery.
Most people on USMB live in a socialist society and are much better off for it, even if they're stupid enough to bite the hand that feeds them.

what is socialist equality? do you know?

The OP says it's a sign you're a socialist if you support having a public school system. Do you or do you not support having a public school system,

or are you afraid to answer the question?

You don't know what 'equality' is?

Let me google that for you

Of all the moronic things people have tried to spin into partisan hackery on USMB, that just might take the cake.

You're saying that the Republicans would fight to ensure the States can't govern themselves and would pass an order (proclamation) with no legal weight while still allowing slavery within their own states?

You're not helping your cause here.

Really?

America has no basis in democracy? We still have slavery in America?

Still crying about forced desegregation?

Still complaining about anyone who puts a 'statist' view over the view of a free society based on the personal freedoms of the individuals over forced redistribution

The US is based on a constitutional republic with the protection of individual freedoms over state forced equality... Socialism and governments that go more and more towards the socialist mantra cannot exist with 'democracy' or freedoms at heart... humans will always have self interests and put those self interests above anything that takes from them to have a state help provide 'equalized outcome' to lesser or non contributors

I will take freedom any day of the week.. and fight against those like you who stand against it

The states have always used force to protect those rights and enforce equal rights and protection. If they didn't, no law demanding equal rights would have any weight.

People no longer vote for their representatives in America?
