So it's come down to this. On Saturday, David Stockman, the legendary Reagan budget chief who presided over the Gipper's supply-side tax cuts, announced that the "debt explosion has resulted not from big spending by the Democrats, but instead the Republican Party's embrace, about three decades ago, of the insidious doctrine that deficits don't matter if they result from tax cuts." The next day, the former Fed chairman Alan Greenspan, who famously helped sell the 2001 Bush tax cuts to Congress, declared them simply "disastrous."
Sadly, Stockman and Greenspan are just about the only voices in the Republican Party speaking the truth about the fiscal devastation wrought by the expiring Bush tax cuts. After all, the national debt tripled under Ronald Reagan, only to double again during the tenure of George W. Bush. And as it turns out, the Bush tax cut windfall for the wealthy accounted for almost half the budget deficits during his presidency and, if made permanent, would contribute more to the U.S. budget deficit than the Obama stimulus, the TARP program, the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and revenue lost to the recession - combined. Of course, you'd never know it listening to the leaders of GOP.

And that's just the beginning. Here, then, are 10 Republican Lies about the Bush tax cuts:

Lie #1: Democrats Plan Across the Board Tax Hikes on January 1st
Lie #2: Democrats Want a $3.8 Trillion Tax Increase
Lie #3: Tax Cuts Pay for Themselves
Lie #4: The Bush Tax Cuts Didn't Add to the Deficit
Lie #5: Expiring High Income Tax Cuts Will Hurt Small Business
Lie #6: The Estate Tax Devastates Small Businesses and Family Farms
Lie #7: The Bush Tax Cuts Helped All Americans
Lie #8. Extending Bush Tax Cuts for the Wealthy is the Best Way to Stimulate the Economy
Lie #9. Bush Tax Cuts Produced 52 Straight Months of Job Growth
Lie #10: The Rich Pay Too Much in Taxes Already

John Steinbeck once said "socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporary embarrassed millionaires.”

Trickle down has created nothing but more wealth at the top. Millionaires create jobs true enough, but when they dont and you STILL give them huge tax breaks they keep the money instead of create jobs which is supposed to be the reason for the tax cuts in the first place.

If the Bush tax cuts are so awful, why did Obama extend them?

Message to libtards: OBAMA IS PRESIDENT NOW.

Obama has his very own set of tax cuts for the rich.
Obama has his very own war, started by him and him alone.
Obama has his very own disaster mishandling, all his and his alone.
Obama has his very own beaurocratic nightmare, passed in tyrant fashion.

Lets focus on our president today.

But it was Republicans who cried and screamed like little girls when Obama wanted to let the tax cuts expire and the House Republicans threated to not extend unemployment benefits which would have been disaster for Americans and business.

Hey Dimwit, you just posted that it was a lie to claim Obama wanted to let the tax cuts expire.

You can't even keep your own lies straight.

How'd Bush II's tax cut for billionaires thing working out for us, citizens?

Was it hopey changey enough for you conservatives?

Is the economy now humming along on trickle down power, yet?

Did you stomp your feet and pout while typing this? Just curious. By the way..... The tax cuts had NOTHING to do with the down turn in the Economy. But then that little gem doesn't go well with your little tirade does it?

I'm lovin' the projection and unintentional irony in this post. Well done indeed.

1. True enough. But he coupled that with relief for the unemployed and cuts for the middle class.
2. How many American troops have been lost in Libya?
3. Exactly how do you qualify that? Aside from the initial accident..which claimed 11 lives, how many Americans died due to BPs recklessness? How much did it cost the taxpayer?
4. Well you made the claim..come up with the proof..that it's a "Beaurocratic" (sp) nightmare.
