$10,000,000,000 for the election is grotesque!

If representation can be ameliorated so that small groups can be defended against larger (House versus Senate for example), what is wrong with the concept of limiting economic influence over disadvantaged voices?

Free speech is not synonymous with expenditure. Having a voice is guaranteed; having the only voice (or voices, if we think there is a difference between Republicans and Democrats) is not desirable. Anti-democratic forces should be limited in practice once they are recognized.

Consider that all this money is spent on ads whose only purpose is to lower taxes and remove regulation from big money and corporations, meanwhile so called news stations such as Fox make Americans even dumber. What to do what to do. Maybe we should spend our money for more than electing fools such as the imbecile who found communists in congress.

Open up the political process FIRST by FORCING the Reps/Dems to achieve ballot access reform.. Make it so that it doesn't take $10Mill to put a candidate on Every state ballot.

Make the debates open to any party that has 270 electoral votes qualified for their candidate. Make it illegal for states to bar printing VOLUNTARY party affiliations on their ballots. Any number of these are worth more than whining about money spent on silly TV advertising or how Procter and Gamble stole your vote..

Should foreigners be allowed to donate to superpacs?

No. Not to SuperPacs.. But like anyone else, if a foreign entity wants to prevent the election of a candidate that advocates nuking them on Day 1 of their term -- they have a right to make their case to the American people.

This argument about is not really about who gets to buy speech. It's about self-defense. When you allow the govt to have the power to crush you or promote your competition, you need the ability to defend yourself and your organization. Since the power to meddle is now ubiquititious and Constitutional restraints are quaint notions --- EVERY entity affected by the scope of the power being wielded has a right to fight back.

The govt even FUNDS independent advocacy groups to go after you and your interests.
YOUR Tax money being used against you.. Groups like NRDC, Planned Parenthood, FRC, even the NRA recieves grants and subsidies that are fungible and used to go club the competition.
