Went there with my kids over the 4th holiday. The wind was tearing, it was cold, but by golly we did it.
For accuracy...we didn't climb the rock. We climbed the trail on the coastline, to the viewpoint at Ecola Park. I'm all for hiking, but not risking my life.
Fascinating history for this particular lighthouse (which no longer serves): Tillamook Rock Lighthouse, Oregon at Lighthousefriends.com
And Ecola State Park:

I've got my handy dandy guide here.....you have to take a tiny boat trip (my guide says .2 miles) to get to Warrior Rock on Sauvie Island.
