She is 'everything that is wrong' because she is so polarising and extreme and perhaps inflexible in some of her views. You can't effectively lead a society as diverse as the US if you don't understand the perspective from other parts of the political spectrum. Her strength is 'rallying the base' but I don't know that she has much beyond that, time will tell. I'll probably get nailed to the wall for it, but I just love her. I wish she could be like an aunt that I go spend the summer with. I know she's probably not the future of the party and she ultimately cost McCain more than she gave to his campaign but she energized ME and I'll always be glad we got to know her. |

Rep Power: 16 | | I would actually enjoy gabbing with her, I am sure. She reminds me of some of my friends at the kids school (not that they field dress moose, but they have the same sort of open pride in their point of view, don't care who knows it sort of thing going.)
As a leader of this country? No way in h***. No more so than my friends at the kids' school, or most of the other people I know. A leader of the country has to be a little bit more than all that. Knowing and being able to converse about constitutional history, being able to earn the respect of foreign leaders, being able to forge coalition, that sort of stuff.
But I don't think you'll be nailed to the wall, there was no way I would vote for her but I totally get thinking that she would be a cool aunt. Or in my case a colorful cousin, and I probably would have even gone helicopter flying with her once just to see what it was like, in the great Alaskan wilderness. I certainly admire her keeping Trig.

She remind me of the kind of reasonably attractive woman who uses her charms to wrap a particularly sexually immature kind of man (that would be most of them BTW, regardless of age) around her conniving femme fatale finger.
Her winking to the camera act was offensive to me, to be frank. Quote: She is 'everything that is wrong' because she is so polarising and extreme and perhaps inflexible in some of her views. And those are the things that make her everything right to some others, too. Quote: You can't effectively lead a society as diverse as the US if you don't understand the perspective from other parts of the political spectrum. True enough. The Republicans played the hand that Bush dealt them, but even their propaganda machine ( Palin included) couldn't make most Americans buy into their act this time round Quote: Her strength is 'rallying the base' but I don't know that she has much beyond that, time will tell. I think the people who rally aound her and her stated values are somewhat discredited right now.
But the American people do seem to have a very short collective memory, so, like you, I think time will tell.
She's capitalizing on her fame (and infamy, too) and frankly, I can't fault her for that.

That's $30,000 more than the RNC previously disclosed it had spent outfitting and styling the Alaska governor and her family, according to Politico and the RNC's latest filings with the Federal Elections Commission.
The latest filing, which includes the final 3 weeks of the presidential race, shows the committee directed close to $55,000 to Palin's fashion stylist, New York-based Lisa Kline.
The RNC also spent close to $24,000 in several high end stores, including Ann Taylor, Bloomingdales, Brooks Brothers, Neiman's, Nordstrom, Macy's, Saks, Target, and Victoria's Secret.
The RNC has said all the clothes purchased will be donated to charity.
Meanwhile, the McCain campaign paid a total of $110,000 on Palin's traveling hair and makeup stylists, according to the New York Times and the McCain campaign's latest FEC filing.
News surfaced shortly before Election Day that Republicans had shelled out more than $150,00 on Palin and her family in clothing costs — a revelation that posed an unnecessary distraction for the struggling McCain campaign, and undercut Palin's hockey-mom credentials. I heard what the deal is with her winking at a few events including the night of her speech at the convention, one or two campaign appearances and the night of the debate discussed a couple of times on TV. She winks at her father if he is the audience. Not as unique as Carol Burnett pulling on her ear as her special way of saying "hi" to her grandmother on her TV show -but same kind of thing. An inside family thing.

If I were her husband, I'd be kinda pissed about that.

Not to mention the additional hundreds of thousand he cost us for the added security because of his color. |

Obama has more governmental experience than all but 20 of our presidents. He is going to be a great president.
And you just said he picked a totally qualified cabinet. |
