By Matthew Knight
LONDON, England (CNN) -- It wasn't so long ago that biofuels were being heralded as the savior of the planet and a thoroughly green solution to our climate woes. But fair winds have been replaced by persistent storms of criticism. But is it justified? Principal Voices has spoken to three people -- an economist, a scientist and an environmental campaigner -- at the heart of the biofuels debate. Here, they have their say on biofuels. Have yours at bottom of the page.

Rep Power: 14 | | | All these things will happen very quickly because the demand for oil is growing.
For $10,000 you can buy a machine that will produce enthanol in your own backyard for $1 a gallon. It can produce 35 gallons a week by combining sugar, yeast, and water.
GM is building a $300 million dollar plant to produce oil from garbage.
The human race has infinite ingenuity, and we will solve this problem. |

If the human race has infinite ingenuity, how come it can't do something simple like find someone with a brain to run for President of the US?

The human race has infinite ingenuity, and we will solve this problem. | I have a friend who runs on biodiesel. He collects the oil from restaurants, and refined it with a really simply process. It costs him 50 cents a gallon, so he's saving about 90% on fuel.
