Gravitational Lens

In this new Hubble Space Telescope release, you are looking at one of the most important aspects of the evidence supporting the General Theory of Relativity. Gravitational lensing provides evidence that the shape of space-time is affected by gravity. In the Hubble photo above you are seeing three galaxies lined up one behind the other. The furtherest away is 11 billion light years distant. That is, the light left that galaxy on its way toward this region of space 11 billion years ago. The light was about 60 percent of the way here when the Sun, Earth, and Solar System formed about 5 billion years ago. The rings are caused by the complex bending of light resulting from the shape of space-time determined by the gravitational fields between Earth and the in-line galaxies. Like a lens, a gravitational field focuses the light from objects behind it.

BeefYogurt is an unknown quantity at this point
This is certainly not the first evidence of gravitational lensing though. It has been known for quite some time.

It certainly is a great picture of how the fabric of space can be skewed, but its nothing new.

You expected new astronomy here? It is a new photo. And some may not know this phenomenon.

If you want up to date science news. Go to www.astrobiology.com

The latest news.

Just last week we have discovered that planets do infact form from the gas and dust of a new born star based on physical evidence of a near by star that was born about 40 million years ago (new born) that has brand new planets around it starting to form. So basically our earth and all the other planets are only about 10-30 million years younger than the sun itself. This is exciting.

Not to mention, a few weeks ago scientists have found a microscopic bacteria that produces CONDUCTING waste. Meaning it shits out something that can hold an electronic current of energy. What this means is that within 10-15 years, fiber optic speed will be cheap, easy and everywhere even in the poorest of poor towns, thanks to these little critters.

You guys need to catch up. this stuff is exciting.
