There's this wonderful romance novel which includes a lot of really good information about the history of slavery called "Trade Winds" by MM Kaye (who also wrote The Far Pavillions). I recommend it to anyone who is interested in the history of the slave trade....

I've always wondered why black activists don't do anything to end the black slavery that is going on right now in Africa. Just google 'modern slavery africa' to see the reports. There are more black slaves now than there ever was in history. Yet the only people helping them are a small group of white Christians from America. Why isn't Jesse Jackson helping them or even mentioning them?
