In the 18-24 age group:
College: 473,000
Prison: 106,000

My best friend from HS is a black man who is now an art teacher in the city of StL. It's not about who is keeping you down, it's about how much effort you make in rising above the generalizations. If you dont want to go to jail, dont rob a liquer store. Want an education? stop dropping out of HS. If it's a choice between rims and books, choose books. This gov. doesn't keep you down. YOU keep you down. Hell, white thrash in trailer parks don't have the BENEFIT of affirmative action programs.

yea.. tell that to one more qualified white kid who cant get into college because of a QUOTA. If white people has "all white colleges" like the half a dozen black colleges I can name you'd be screaming about segregation.

How many white kids are affected by so-called quotas? And once again, affirmative action is for qualified people to have a chance to succeed, not less qualified and or unqualified people. Fact is, affirmative action has benefited white women more than black people as a whole. Black ncolleges are historically Black Colleges because these were the only institutions blacks were allowed to attend at one time, but nobody is stopping whites from attending them, whites don't need the National Guard and police escort to attend HBCUs, whites don't need a Supreme Court order to attend HBCUs, my people had to go through all of those things.

If ANY kid is affected by a quota it's too many. THAT is what non-racist standards are. And, nobody is stopping blacks from going to college instead of living a thug life fantasy either. In 2008 NO ONE needs the national fucking guard to ensure that ANY ethnic class gets to go to school. YOUR PEOPLE have equal rights thanks largely to WHITE people. Racism on your part doesn't make it acceptable just because you had an ancestor who knew segregation. Affirmative action is nothing more than rationalized Racial Profiling.

It wasn't like Yale wrote me and told me I didn't make the cut because I wasn't the right color or gender.

Just like they didn't write to equally qualified Black kids who did make it and say, We're taking you here because you're Black and we're seeking ethnic diversity.

But you know, I never met a poor disadvantaged Black kid at the university I attended. Every one of them came from far more affluent families than I did.

So this White boy wonders if that policy really helped the Black people it was supposed to be helping, or did it just make it easier for the upper middle class blacks to attend that school?

We'll (meaning those Black kids and I) will never really know.
