You know that because of your friendly neighborhood government virtually all the hydraulics on your car are being replaced slow but surely with electronics, not mind you because Electronics are better at most of those things but because they are lighter and weight, under CAFE standards, trumps safety every time. Those smart cars everyone is so proud of? Make sure you leave as much space as you can between yourself and a big rig on the high way. Wind flow around a big rig creates no small amount of suction and one suspects that those dinky little thing haven't enough weight to avoid being sucked under the wheels at highway speeds. From smart car to ball of tinfoil gooey stuff inside in under .3 seconds. You have quite an imagination. |

It seems to me that the current way of doing business in Washington is GOTCHA politicking, and to hell with what the country actually needs. Old conservative ideologies do not fit with today's diverse social and foreign interests; Democrats spend too much money trying to play catch-up. Somewhere in between is what the majority of us is looking for, imo. no you didnt Mags....the only reason you posted that Mags, is because you actually believe what was written there.....and please...dont tell me im wrong....because then you become a liar.... I DO believe it. Where did I say I didn't?! I simply said it's old (and out of date). Where are the lies in Joe's scenarios? Can you find any? |

Rep Power: 30 | | | Maggie it doesn't require much of an Imagination. Some friends of mine and I were coming back from Oklahoma Chess Championship some years back and his fricking Volkswagen almost got sucked under the wheels of a semi he was trying to draft to see if he could actually get the thing up to 70mph. I suspect that Old Beetle probably out ways the smart Cars I've seen and looks better into the bargain. |

Obama, Reid, and Pelosi are amongst the most ILliberal politicians this nation has ever witnessed, as determined by the classical definition of the term "liberal".
They are classic examples of the authoritarian autocrat, against whom America's founders rebelled.

Since the VW bug was commonly seen on the highways (I had a '65 myself), there have been numerous safety precautions that also must be installed in vehicles. I don't know if the newer version of the Beetle still has the engine in the back or not, but that was always a concern for my parents, not for me (who at that age of course thought I was indestructable). Mine only had 4 cylinders and never got up to 70mph. I drove it from Mississippi to California in 1967 and it could barely climb over the lower ridges of the Rockies and Sierras. |
