Rep Power: 5 | | | Sen. Feinstein's aid to the Taliban Predator drones flown from base in Pakistan, U.S. lawmaker says Sen. Feinstein's surprise disclosure likely to complicate joint campaign against Taliban militants Predator drones flown from base in Pakistan, U.S. lawmaker says -- chicagotribune.com
Smooth move dumbass.... Quote: WASHINGTON, D.C. - A senior U.S. lawmaker said Thursday that unmanned CIA Predator aircraft operating in Pakistan are flown from an airbase inside that country, a revelation likely to embarrass the Pakistani government and complicate its counterterrorism collaboration with the United States.
The disclosure by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), the chairwoman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, marked the first time a U.S. official had publicly commented on where the Predator aircraft patrolling Pakistan take off and land.
At a hearing, Feinstein expressed surprise at Pakistani opposition to the ongoing campaign of Predator-launched CIA missile strikes against Al Qaeda targets along Pakistan's northwest border.
"As I understand it, these are flown out of a Pakistani base," she said of the planes. Now that it's Obama's war on terror, I hope both sides of the aisle are outraged at Feinstein's stupidity.
sidenote: Quite a blabbermouth this chick... Quote: This isn’t the first time Feinstein has blown a sensitive operation by opening her mouth, either. Californians will recall that Mayor Feinstein called a press conference to discuss the Night Stalker case, a string of violent rapes and murders that terrified the entire state. She divulged previously-confidential information about Richard Ramirez’ shoes and gun — and on hearing it, Ramirez promptly dumped them into the bay on his way out of town, eliminating key evidence in the case. Rep Power: 502 | | In the rush to bash dems, you missed something. Articles saying that the predators were taking off and landing from inside Pakistan were already printed in 2008. Quote: K. Alan Kronstadt, a specialist for South Asian affairs at the Congressional Research Service, writes in an April 2008 report that "three Predators are said to be deployed at a secret Pakistani airbase and can be launched without specific permission from the Islamabad government." Pakistan officially denies the planes exist, but reports of operational successes inside the country suggest a beefed-up U.S. presence in the tribal areas. Predators take off from US bases in Pakistan--then strike Pakistanis - Pakistan - Zimbio
I'm sure Kronstadt wanted to aid the taliban, too.
There are discussions to be had... disingenuousness, dishonesty and hypocrisy aren't the basis for them.

There are discussions to be had... disingenuousness, dishonesty and hypocrisy aren't the basis for them. Except YOUR link does not say they are there at all. It says they may be there. Pakistan denied they are there. And the problem went away. But hey you go girl, support any democrat no matter how ignorant retarded or criminal they may be or act. Wait, now remind me how republicans were brain dead and in lock step with Bush?

The free press and their rumors/reporting are not the same as government confirmation from the highest levels.
I did not "miss" anything. I linked to a news article that flat out had a statement from Phil LaVelle (Feinstein's spokesman) in a sloppy attempt to give her cover based on the news stories you mention.
Feinstein's statement was front-page news in Pakistan. It hurt both them and us and it does harm to the war in Afghanistan. Now that it's Obama's war, will the folks on the left not share the outrage of many on the right when that effort is undermined? (be it by leaks or Congressional stupidity?) |

Her chairmanship possibly explains why we get the dumb legislation out of the senate that we've been getting. Ummm, she's Speaker of the HOUSE.

Your confusing her for Nancy Pelosi. Feinstein gets nod to chair intelligence panel Quote: California Sen. Dianne Feinstein has been tapped as the chairwoman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Majority Leader Harry Reid said Monday, a post that would give her immense clout over U.S. intelligence agencies and the power to shape policies on wiretapping and the treatment of detainees. |
