Schumers next target...Cruise Lines

So now he wants the department of State to get involved in enforcing US regulations on international cruise lines....caliming that if they want US passengers, they must adhere to US regulations....He wants to enact a "passenger bill of rights"...

Uh.....are those passengers forced to go on cruises? Are they not aware that something may happen?

What is next? Forcing all resorts to offer full refunds to guests if there is rain?

He represents New York. A state that is second to only Florida as it pertains to the financial benefit of cruise ship docking...and passenger patronage.

The last cruise they gave was cut short by several days, skipped two destinations had ppl stranded for 3 days and what did Carnival do to fix it. Gave them a $100 bill and a handshake.

You dont think anything is wrong with that? How would you fix it?

Fix it?

It is not anyone place to fix it.

If, in fact, someone does not like the way they treated their passengers, then that person should not use their service.

In time, they will either learn to do the right thing or go out of business.

I dont see why government needs to fix anything.

Like I said.....what is next....look at this scenario...

You go to a website of a resort....they show sunny skies, beaches with sunbathers.....golf...tennis.....palm trees....birds chirping.....

Nowhere do yoiu see dark clouds and downpours.

So what happens when it rains for the 4 days you are there.

Afterall, nowhere do they talk about the possibility of rain.

Should you get a refund?

You don't fix it. You leave it alone and let the free market fix it. Schumer can't regulate cruise ships. They aren't registered in the US. They are foreign ships. He can't stop Americans from buying a ticket and traveling on those ships. He can't stop them from docking in our ports because that is regulated by international treaty. Schumer can do nothing except make ridiculous proposals that are hopeless of fixing anything.

These aren't cruise ships, these affected ships are Carnival ships. Leave the free market be and passengers will book on Princess Cruises or Royal Carribean. There are dozens of cruise ship lines. Not only are there cruise ship lines, but a person can go for the cheap and book on a cargo vessel where you take whatever you get.

The last thing people need is some idiotic American politician imposing yet more American regulations.

true....but see how the left thinks?

"How would you fix it"

If I dont like the service in a restaurant, I dont ask for my money back. I dont look for government to pass some regulation.

I dont go back to the restaurant.

What is so hard about that concept?

Jeez...people shop around for an hour looking to save 10 cents on a gallon of gas......but when it comes to their health...or a 5K cruise....they want government to intervene to ensure they dont make a bad edecision.

Were they forced to buy tickets?

Have you ever been on a cruise? If so, then did you read the fine print on your ticket?

Yes.

I once sat on a plane for 4 hours on the trarmac. I called the airline a week later...was told to write a letter...I wrote a letter....and I was nbot satisfied with the respoonse.

SO I never flew that airline again.

That year alone, before the event, I spent over 30K for me and some of my employees to fly arouind the country for sales calls and seminars.

And they lost my business.

No need for government intervention. The free market takes care of it.

it is not a difficult concept to understand.

They do understand it.

Sadly, they refuse to ever admit they made a bad decision...it is always someone elses fault....and they want resitution.

This is about also about safety.

"Passengers on cruise ships be allowed to leave after a certain time if the impairment to the ship can’t be repaired in a reasonable amount of time.

Passengers should have access to well-trained medical personnel during an emergency and that there be an adequate number of medical personnel aboard to deal with the emergency.

Passengers should have a crew well-trained to handle a number of emergencies, including evacuations from the cruise ship.

Every cruise ship should have a backup generator in case of a power failure."

Many of the things he's purposing are basic safety issues. People don't know that when they book a trip on what they think is a reputable cruise line that they may be going out to sea with a poorly trained crew on a ship lacking in basic medical equipment.
