Because oil platforms are treated like ships, and the country that they are registered under is the country that dictates the inspection procedures. Halliburton (the guys that made the slurry that caused this fuckup) has their world headquarters in Dubai (that move happened under Bush Jr.). BP is a foreign company as well. So no, this isn't American owned drilling. As far as the jobs lost because of the moratorium? What about the shrimpers, fishing guides, fishermen, cruise ship operators, etc? Don't their jobs count? No, we shouldn't be drilling in the Gulf. Incidentally, did you know that the technology for drilling has already outpaced the technology for safety? We're still using the same techniques as we did 30 years ago to try to fix this mess. Nope, sorry.........the Wasilla Chihuahua hasn't got a fucking clue.
