Rep Power: 1 | | | Palin is good news for Democrats A serious Palin run for the White House is now a real possibility, not just the fantasy of a disaffected minority.
That should please Obama's staff and supporters immensely, because Palin represents nothing but trouble for the Republicans, for two main reasons.
First, she has already shown she can split the conservative vote and thereby lose seats to the Democrats by backing hard-right candidates over moderates favoured by the Republican high command.
Second, no potential Republican presidential nominee is guaranteed to send independent voters flocking back to the Democrats more than Palin.
She is a hardline social as well as fiscal conservative, but more alarmingly for the independents, she still lacks much of the basic knowledge of the world they consider a prerequisite for competence. She said yesterday: "I'm never going to pretend I know more than the next person."
There will always be a constituency for this sort of right-wing politician, but it will not be big enough to win the White House in 2012. Palin is good news for Democrats | The Australian | | The Following User Says Thank You to johnusa For This Useful Post: | |

Rep Power: 9 | | | I would not call her presidential timber. The GOP has many better candidates. They don't need star-quality, just competence. Obama's policies are failing. The voters see that the best path is the one that both sides can agree on. So far the only common ground is off-shore drilling and drilling in ANWR. I also like Obama's going after off-shore tax cheats and regulating Wall St. He needs to fix SS & Medicare and start creating jobs. But first he needs to stop spending so much. The only low hanging fruit I see is defense spending and entitlements. He can't keep spending us into bankruptcy.

Regardless of whether she runs or not, she is doing nothing but hurting the GOP. While this may be all well and good for people in the Tea Party, if we are all honest with each other, we would agree that Palin running or endorsing ANY hardline conservative only hurts the GOP against any Democrat.

Rep Power: 93 | | | On the one hand, Dems have blown a $1.6 TRILLION hole in the budget, have 8 million unemployed and tried to cut Medicare and nationalize health care; on the other hand, well Palin scribbled notes on the other hand.
Yeah, run with that Dems, how can you lose?

Yeah, run with that Dems, how can you lose? Oh, they are. Palin is just too easy a target. The Dems will win easily with Palin splitting the conservative vote. You know it and I know it.
