U.S. Navy photo by Chief Petty Officer Josh Ives The Post-9/11 Wars Have Taken Their Toll On The U.S. Military -- David Frum, National Post Quote: Has the U.S. military been pushed too far? The wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have taken a heavy toll on the U.S. armed forces. About 6,650 Americans have died in those two wars, as have 1,390 allied personnel, Canadians prominent among them. That’s tragically a big number. The roster of the slain would have stretched even longer, but for the amazing advances in military armour and military medicine over the past generation. More than 50,000 Americans have been wounded in battle since 9/11 — 16,000 of them so seriously that they would certainly have died had they suffered an equivalent wound in any prior conflict. My Comment: Yup .... it has been a long 11 years. And just what do we have for that? Nothing! Iraq is falling into the morass of inter-faction warfare with Iran doing its best to destabilize the government. We have a petty dictator in charge of Afghanistan who has millions stashed in hidden accounts and giving US military a rough time. And, worst of all, we have thousands upon thousands of our men and women living with disabilities. With the current economy and administration policies, what are their possibilities for a rosy future? |

| And, if that isn't enough, This Ain't Hell blog sends this: Karzai offers to exchange US immunity for sovereignty by Jonn Lilyea Quote: Deutsche Presse-Agentur reports that Hamid Karzai, the president of Afghanistan has made an offer to trade immunity from Afghan courts to US troops in Afghanistan for a return of sovereignty. On it’s face, the offer sounds reasonable. Well, until you look at what he calls “sovereignty”; Karzai said his key demands were that the US handover And it gets worse by the day! |
