My beliefs do not easily fall into a particular political party bucket. I would say my human/social beliefs tend to be more Libertarian to moderate Progressive, but those are tempered by being more fiscally and environmentally Conservative (we do not have infinite resources). I am a Christian and believe everyone has the right to worship/believe how or what he or she chooses. In general, I believe the more we know and understand each other, the stronger we are as a society. There is an inherent trait in humans to fear what is different or unknown, but those that overcome those fears through knowledge gain the truth and understanding that propels us all forward.

As a father, I am concerned about the world we are leaving to future generations. We have not weighed the social and economic benefits of our decisions we enjoy today versus the long-term costs and problems we may be kicking down the road for our children (who didn't receive the benefits) to pay for.

We have been moving toward and have achieved a state of societal myopic self-entitlement at all social-economic levels. I believe this mindset has made us lazy, greedy and frankly ignorant, and is a threat to our long-term national health and societal stability.

I'm interested in better understanding different views across the political spectrum. What are the lens/filters different people use to view the world? What are the different solutions people propose to solve our problems? What are the advantages and disadvantages of those solutions?

I definitely don't have all the answers, but I want to become more knowledgeable. I do believe we won't find solutions by demeaning the ideas of others. However, I do believe there are better solutions; we just need to keep an open mind to find them.
