The UN's inability to guarantee the respect for the national sovereignty of countries with small/weak/poorly trained armies is a well known fact.

UNFORTUNATELY FOR OUR PLANET AND SPECIES, only nukes can do the job.

Are you crazy? If Iran gets a nuke do you know what that means ? I live in the Middle East so you dont act like a smartass..And puhleez...Iran isnt making nukes in response to the U.S "invasion" of Iraq..They just want to deliver a blow to the U.S and Israel in the Mid East..

Even if they had nukes the only country they could reasonably hit would be Israel, maybe European targets. They'd need high powered missles to reach the US.

Not to mention they'd need a lot of them too. We do have a limited missle defense shield. The only nations that can hit the USA are Russia and China. Russia won't/can't because half their missles don't work and because of our missle defense. They'd get the US good. China has too few to hurt the US. They'd have to expend their whole arsenal to get maybe one major city.

Meanwhile the USA which has the largest strategic nuclear arsenal on the planet glasses the whole of Russia and China and has a few more left over to say "Who wants some?". There would even be enough gov't and infrastructure for the US to survive. China and Russia lack the applicable missle defense to effectively defend themselves.

Or, they could load it into a container and detonate it in Long Beach harbor.

One nuke in LA would cause more than enough damage

We have more than adequate defense against any nuclear weapon targeted against us from anywhere other than Russia. Our current ABM defense employing most the SM-1 can counter up to 100 MIRV'd ICBMs, maybe more. The only country on earth capable of launching an attack of that size is still Russia, and it is becoming increasingly doubtful that even they can still muster that size of an attack.

What concerns us is the ability of Iran to take out oil facilities in Saudi Arabia and the other Persian Gulf states, using non-ballistic technologies.

This is patriotic insanity to the tenth power, Zoomie.

The suggestion that those primitive prototypes can protect America against a chinese nuclear strike is totally delusional.

China can obliterate the entire West Coast in 30 minutes.

This is more than enough for chinese nukes to serve their purpose: to guarantee the respect for China’s national sovereignty.

China is 100% protected against any foreign aggression and the rest of the world would do well to follow its example.
