Opening a Pandora's Box

Be Wise on Kosovo
By Walid Phares, American Thinker
December 13, 2007

If the ethnic Albanians have the right of self-determination in Kosovo, it should be granted fully under international law, not as a result of PR attempts to mollify a virtual Caliphate. These pre-9/11 attitudes can be very dangerous. Linking partitions and breakups of countries to American success in rallying Muslim diplomatic support could bring great harm elsewhere around the world.

Will the US also please the Wahhabis by forcing India to relinquish Kashmir, the Philippines to let go of Mindanao, Russia to cut Chechnya loose, Cyprus to abandon its Turkish north and last but not least, Israel to slice out half of the Galilee to its own Muslim minority?

Playing this Jihadi-inspired card would ultimately strengthen al Qaeda's lexicon of "Islamic causes" at the expense of potential legitimate causes for ethnic minorities, including those who happen to be of Muslim background. Western gaming of these crises with an Islamic dimension, including Kosovo, can only backfire and cause even more tension.

If Washington initiates a world-religious parameter on the issue of Kosovo, it will open a Pandora's Box worldwide. Other enclaves forming in Europe would demand secession within existing liberal democracies based on their majority status in many suburbs of big cities, such as the reently riot-torn Parisian banlieues. Will the US press a future French (or German, Dutch or British) heads of state to concede secessions on their own soil to please Riyadh, Khartoum or eventually Tehran?

This logic applied in Kosovo will serve as a precedent to be applied to force Sharia enclaves everywhere else in the West and beyond. The leaders of any ethnic minority, including the Kosovars themselves, should not allow their cause to be seized by the Wahabis or catered-to by Western politicians seeking accommodation with them. It is too dangerous for everyone.

There is neither a connection between Kosovo-Albanians and Wahabites nor a connection of Kosovarian or "Albanian Republic" connection to any radical Muslim state.
Kosovarians and "Albanian Republic" is totally fixed on USA.
Albanians must be the most pro-American people living on earth.

The "logic" which the author describes is pure bullshit. Phobia in connecting things, which have nothing to do with each other.
Generally speaking of division of countries: Those who are strong decide their own fate of state-being, and also block any manipulation attempts of minorities from outside.
Best example is China with Uyghurs.

Also in the article it is being said, that for example Kosovo would maybe make an example for Germany and France, so that their minorities will be controlled by Teheran or Ryad.
How many Iranians or Saudi-Arabians live in Germany or France, so that Teheran or Ryad would have any influence to the minorities living there?
Being Muslim immigrant does not make you controllable by either Saudi-Arabia or Iran.
In France there live immigrants from North-Africa such as Marocco and Algeria. If they are controllable then from their mother-countries. They do not have any bond to Ryad or Teheran.

Long the most eastward player among Western powers, Turkey could well reposition itself as the most western power among a loose bloc of Eastern players.

Hey Canavar, good to hear from you.

So, is your next target Saudi-Arabia?

EVERYONE has a stake in France, there are immigrants from around the world just in Paris. I lived there for a year during the uprisings in Libya. What a hoot that was, death and destruction everyday on the "Left Bank", yep, freedom at its finest hour.

I'm sorry, you were making a point.................

Yes, Paris is a city with immigrants from many countries. As such city it is not alone, there are many more cities with multi-cultural flavour around the globe.
But in the context of this thread not the statistic of how many different nationals live in France is important, but how many people from a certain country live in France. Maybe there live thousands of Pacific or Caribic geography nationals in France, but there live millions of North-Africans and West-Africans in France. The reasons for this is not important here. But many are Muslims amongst them.
These people are a lobby, if utilized correctly (dependent on education level and career) for their mother-/fatherland.
But not for either Saudi-Arabia or Iran.
What connection do they actually have to these countries? If these people live their tradition in France, then it is the tradition of their homeland.
In Religion is also flowing alot of region specific rites, culture and those things.

I just wanted to say, that writings such as this from the article is untrue. It may be correct, if in France would live millions of Saudis or Iranians. Which is not the case either in Britain, France or Germany:
