Many of them stayed on after the war and changed their names to more Bosnian names instead of obvious names of Arabic origin.
And Khalid Sheikh Mohammed can't really be refered to as a Bosnian jihadist either. |
So it is.
These are pictures token from Muslim Bosnians who were concentrated in Concentration Camps. These pictures speak for themselves and happenings like Srebrenica and newly found mass graves give a picture of what was going on in that time:

I always read in some parts of US media these kind of stories and must ask where these people got their facts.
For example, what are the numbers of "Arabian" fighters in Bosnia still residing there, which direction of Islam is being supported by the state.
Bosnia is one of the most moderate countries with muslim majority citizens.
Re-Islamization is nothing bad. It is important, in which direction Re-Islamization puts the society and where this motive of Re-Islamization does come from (external factor). And here again a country like Bosnia can not be compared to other countries. Muslim people in Europe have an unique history seperated from what is going on from Mid-East cultures. These people were never ruled by for example Arabs or Persians.
Facts are, that under Dayton-Agreement within 30 days all foreign fighters had to leave the country. This happened, but some fighters gained Bosnian passport and remained.
Bosnia is currently canceling citizenship to these people and expels them. Therefore was set-up a parliamentary commission overviewing all citizenships from 1992-2006.
The number of these people is very limted.
People who try to impose Islam standards which is an extreme interpretation of Koran are isolated in the country.
The highest body of Islam in Bosnia is publishing resolutions that those who do not wish to understand Islam as practiced in Bosnia have no business there.
Today two academic degrees are required to practice as an Imam in Bosnia. Confirmation from an Islamic faculty is not enough on its own; a diploma from a Bosnian madrasa (religious secondary school) is also required. This is intended to limit the influence of foreign preachers.

So it is. Official Islam in Bosnia is not connected to any foreign influence.
Islam is finding itself in Bosnia back to the roots of relevant geography and thinkers. Through this process it is an natural re-orientation to Turkey.
We are present there with ethnic-ties, KFOR, common history, universities, schools, money for restauration, financial help and true state-sponsored fiendship between both communities.
Arab jihadists is marginal problem and not that picture, what it is all about in Bosnia.
