I was laughing out loud this morning as Eric Cantor made the morning talk show rounds, starting with C-Span's Washington Journal trying to promote the latest offering for health care by the Republicans. On C-Span he even made the ridiculous comparison of how expensive Ted Kennedy's treatment for brain cancer is and how under any of the Dem plans on the table, no one would be able to afford that kind of care. Well no shit, Eric. But YOU would because you're covered by the same insurance! (Talk about Dukakis moments!)
Seems the pubs continue to miss the point entirely. A public health insurance option isn't intended to include Cadillac coverage. Most folks who have no insurance whatsoever would be thrilled to just have basic coverage for preventive care and minor illnesses. Hey Eric, it's a no-brainer!!
Cantor's face was on C-Span, MSNBC twice, and NBC (probably others). Ironically, their latest proposal slated to cost $1.3 trillion still does not spell out where that money will come from. So tell us again why it's better?

Of course, it's not cadillac coverage, but, hey, you just admitted you weren't interested in THAT...

Rep Power: 34 | | | Really? You ever try to get HMO coverage with a pre-existing condition? Perhaps President Obama does not have the best answer, but so far, you Rushpublicans have offered nothing but more of the same. Consider what that got you the last election. |

Rep Power: 1 | | | Tough questions rebuked, clumsy answers by Obama cherished as gospel by Obama supporters. Tort reform, co-opted buying groups, simple straight forward by conservatives rejected as more of republican same same. I bet these Obama fanatics believe there is a social security account in Washington with there name on it. This is just another pie in the sky way to jack hard working americans out of more money to send to washington to grease the skids of corruption and political favors. 3.7 trillion dollars first 10 years. With that kind of money there isnt anyone in health care or insurance that can compete. Is there anything socialists want to do for themselves? Nothing the government does is ever free. For every non insured a hard worker pays double. There is no money in Washington to spend. Wake up folks, this is the way to disater. |

"Obama's Dukakis Moment"???? Give me a fucking break. That's just silly politics. Put some energy into the serious stuff for a change. The challenges today are HUGE compared to anything in history.

It's absurdity of the first order. Yep, that's why 80% of the country wants reform. Maybe YOU can afford the basic coverage, but my son can't. And I can't keep paying for his constant ear infections all winter. Will you send me some money to help out? We'll keep it "private."
