Liberals love this little phrase. They use it as if it were some 11th commandment. Speaking of commandments it probably is their 1st. But with all left leaning thought it is mainly comprised of hypocrisy.

Liberalism is a religion. Therefore it should be separated from the government in their own eyes. The left had replaced God with "Mother Nature". This is also known as "Secular Humanism".

SH has one goal. Destroy personal wealth and freedom. The religion is based on everyone being equal and everyone believing in the State as the higher power.

SH's believe in Evolution and or Darwinism. If liberals believe only the strong should survive then they should also eventually believe it is okay to eliminate the disabled and handicapped. Oh I forgot handicap-able. This is only after they achieve a supermajority and cannot be challenged politically.

They also see new life as parasitic in nature and you have the right to terminate out of inconvenience.

Then there is the right to Die. They also believe in the right to take a human life when it is bed ridden or it's quality is exhausted.

So who should live in a Liberal society? Liberals of course. Only those who went to the right schools and came from the right DNA.

One only has to look back at a leftist gone bad in the 1930's. Remember he was after a ultra healthy nation as well.

So when the socialists are after you to quit smoking, not eat trans fats and have you weigh in at an airport, you know what they are really thinking. [You are too stupid to take care of yourself]

In closing I'd like to say I agree with the separation of "church-n-state". Stop the government from doing what the churches have been doing for 2000 years. And eliminate this "Secular Humanism" from the government completely.
