This is a long long long long overdue act and it needs to get passed. Too bad Congressman Deal waited until the Democrats took Congress to introduice it. Basically it ends the bastardized interpretation of the 14th amendment that allows citizenship to the children of illegal aliens and creating the quote/unquote anchor babies! Citizenship given to non-Americans should be privilege not a right! I like this law! Rep. Nathan Deal (R-GA) reintroduced his Birthright Citizenship bill that would eliminate automatic citizenship for children born in the United States. The Birthright Citizenship Act of 2009 (H.R.1868) would amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to make it more difficult for children born in the U.S. to gain citizenship.
Under the proposed legislation, a person born in the United States, in order to gain citizenship, must have at least one parent who is:
(1) a U.S. citizen or national;
(2) a lawful permanent resident alien whose residence is in the United States; or
(3) an alien performing active service in the U.S. Armed Forces
